Day 1. Arrival Colombo - Chilaw

Typically, you’ll have an overnight flight and arrive at Bandaranayake International Airport in Colombo early in the morning. On arrival you will be greeted by your personal guide / chauffeur and driven in approx. 2 ½ hours to your beautiful resort on Chilaw Beach. Relax for the next two days on the beautiful beaches and the beautiful lagoon of Chilaw.

Leisure. Enjoy tropical landscapes of the pearl in the Indian Ocean while sunbathing and swimming in the Indian Ocean or with a cold beer by the pool. Tip: If you have already rested from your long flight and are in the mood for your first cultural experience, visit the Hindu Munneswaram temple complex.

After breakfast you check out and start at the agreed time (approx. 4 hours driving time) towards the cultural triangle. On the way you make a more than worthwhile stopover to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site Anuradhapura. The almost 1,500 year old ruins of the old royal place and oldest capital of the island are considered to be the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Then it goes to your beautiful resort in Sigiriya with a fantastic view of the lion rock and the wild nature.

After breakfast you go on an excursion to the highlights in the cultural triangle. First you will visit the old royal city of Polonnaruwa, the historically second capital of Sri Lanka in AD 1,070. Embark on an exploration tour through the old ruins of the royal palaces, water and parks from a long-forgotten dynasty. Then it goes on towards Dambulla. The Golden Temple and the cave temples at Dambulla are the most beautiful and best preserved temples on the island. There is a reason for not going there at lunchtime. Under the vertical midday sun it is too hot to walk barefoot there (shoes and stockings must be removed before entering). You will not only experience the mystical and unique temple complexes, but on the way you will meet monkeys and monks and enjoy an incredible view over the varied landscapes of Sri Lanka to the famous Lion Rock … and your resort.

Today we go to the beautiful beaches of Trincomalee. (Travel time approx. 2 ½ hours). The east coast is still not very touristically developed and is rich in fantastic natural landscapes, natural springs, a unique underwater world with colorful fish and corals, as well as picturesque fortresses from the colonial era, one of the most beautiful natural harbors in the world and colorful temples from a long time ago past dynasties. Tip: From May to October you can observe the largest creatures in the world off the east coast. Blue whales and sperm whales, as well as dolphins, can be observed during a boat trip with a probability of 90%.

Today you say goodbye to the beautiful beaches and mystical temples and drive into the wilderness of one of the most beautiful national parks in Sri Lanka. Your very cozy and luxurious eco-lodge is located in the middle of the species-rich vegetation of the national park. Explore the tropical flora and fauna with the natural scientists on site, meet the Vedda people, the last indigenous indigenous people of Sri Lanka, go on a safari on foot or by boat. Leisure. Tip: Get up early and take a hike to the top of “Monkey Mountain”. After the 1.5 hour hike, reward yourself with a fantastic panoramic view over the national park and enjoy a unique sunrise. Back at the resort you will have enough time to have breakfast and relax. Your lodge offers you numerous activities on site, including. The natural scientists who are always present will be happy to take you on an exploration tour and show and explain the unique diversity of flora and fauna of the Gal Oya National Park to you. Today is the time to get out of bed early. You have to catch your early 10:00 train to Ella at the train station in Badulla. To do this, you leave with your chauffeur before 7:00 a.m. Until you arrive in Ella around 11:04 a.m. you will experience the most beautiful views of the central highlands of Sri Lanka, along the picturesque tea plantations, tropical rainforests and the small traditional villages of the locals. Your chauffeur will be waiting for you at the station in Ella to drive you to your hotel. The 98 Acres is one of the most beautiful hotels in Sri Lanka and offers a fantastic 360 degree panorama over the plateaus of Sri Lanka high up in the forests and tea plantations. Tip: Take a hike to the world-famous Nine Arches Bridge – one of the most famous photo motifs in Sri Lanka. Along the way you will also find a variety of restaurants serving Western and Sri Lankan food.

Today, after a relaxed breakfast, we head south to the Yala National Park (travel time approx. 3 hours). Along breathtaking natural scenery, characterized by tea plantations, waterfalls, traditional villages and rainforests, you reach the Yala National Park. The most visited park in Sri Lanka is famous for the world’s highest population density of leopards.
When you arrive at your hotel, you can feel the neighboring wilderness up close. The hotel complex virtually merges with the national park. The lake landscape opposite the pool area is home to crocodiles, deer, pelicans and many other wild animals. Even elephants and leopards regularly roam the hotel grounds. That’s why you will always be accompanied through the hotel complex to your bungalow by an experienced gamekeeper from the hotel. A stay in this luxurious and wild hotel complex is a highlight in itself and a dream for every nature and animal lover.

Get up early today for the best time to see the wild animals in the famous Yala National Park during your 3-4 hour jeep safari. It starts at around 5:30 a.m. Take your breakfast with you and eat in the national park. Before the midday heat, in addition to the twilight hours, the optimal time to watch leopards hunting, crocodiles sunbathing, elephants playing water games and many species of birds and reptiles. After the safari you drive back to your hotel to shower and freshen up before you check out and after about 3 hours of driving you will reach your tropical hotel complex on the dream beach of Tangalle.

Just enjoy the beautiful beaches of Tangalle while sunbathing or swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There are many turtle rearing stations that prepare the endangered species for their life in the wild. These are definitely worth a visit, and you can help protect species with a small donation.

The Palm Paradise Cabanas is located on the tropical beach of Tangalle and offers an additional outdoor swimming pool for refreshment, a restaurant with regional and international cuisine, spa treatments and free WiFi in all rooms.

Please ensure that you cover your shoulders and legs when visiting Buddhist temples and other religious attractions. Shoes and stockings must be removed before entering.

Tip: Bring or buy a thin beach towel and bring it with you on every excursion. You can wrap this around your waist or over your shoulders.

(That is why you will not visit the Dambulla Caves in the midday heat. You would burn your feet on the black rocks)
