Day 1. Airport Colombo - Negombo
After your early arrival at Bandaranayake International Airport in Colombo, you will be greeted by your personal guide / chauffeur and driven to your beach hotel in Negombo in just 30 minutes, where you can first relax by the pool or on the long golden sandy beach with a cocktail or a cold beer from yours long flight can recover.

Day 2. Negombo - Cultural Triangle
After breakfast you check out and start at the agreed time (approx. 4 hours drive) to the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. On the way you will visit the first cultural highlights of your trip. The Golden Temple and the cave temples at Dambulla are the most beautiful and best preserved temples on the island. There is a reason for not going there at lunchtime. Under the vertical midday sun it is too hot to walk barefoot there (shoes and stockings must be removed before entering). You will not only experience the mystical and unique temple complexes, but will encounter monkeys and monks on the way there and enjoy an incredible view over the varied landscapes of Sri Lanka up to the famous Lion Rock. Then it’s off to your hotel in the heart of the Cultural Triangle in Habarana.

Day 3. Cultural triangle
Today it is pure culture and nature. You will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Polonnaruwa. First it goes to the lion fortress of Sigiriya. The fortress was built in the 5th century by King Kassapa I on the monolith, a magma block of an eroded volcano.
Halfway up you will discover the frescoes of the “cloud girls”, images of the most beautiful women from all over the world, which the king had bare-breasted made there. Shortly before the northern plateau is the mirror wall, a rock wall that the king had polished to a high gloss during his lifetime. From above you will experience a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sri Lankan wilderness. Then go to the old royal city of Polonnaruwa, the historically second capital of Sri Lanka in AD 1,070. Embark on an exploration tour through the ancient ruins of the royal palaces, water and parks from a long-gone dynasty.

Day 4. Habarana - Knuckles Mountain Range
After breakfast you leave the cultural triangle and you have a slightly longer drive (approx. 4 ½ hours) ahead of you until you reach the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once there, your experienced mountain guide and the trekking team will welcome you. Then start your unforgettable expedition into the biosphere reserve. Even if the nature reserve only makes up 0.03% of the total land mass of Sri Lanka, the number of species-rich flora and fauna, especially endemic species, is disproportionately high.

Day 5. Knuckles Mountain Range
Today you explore the untouched nature of the national park, discover the multitude of bird, mammal and reptile species, endemic plants, hidden waterfalls and enjoy a breathtaking sunset at the campfire in the wilderness.

Day 6. Knuckles - Ampara
After two days in the wilderness, today we go to Gal Oya NP in a new wilderness, but with a pool (travel time approx. 3½ hours). Your very cozy and luxurious eco-lodge is located in the middle of the species-rich vegetation of the national park. Explore the tropical flora and fauna with the local scientists, meet the Vedda people, the last indigenous people of Sri Lanka, go on a safari on foot or by boat. Your lodge offers many excursions included for you.

Day 7. Ampara
Leisure. Tip: Get up early and go on a hike to the top of “Monkey Mountain”. After the 1.5 hour hike, reward yourself with a fantastic panoramic view over the national park and enjoy a unique sunrise. Back at the resort you will have enough time to have breakfast and relax.

Day 8. Ampara - Yala NP
Today, after a relaxed breakfast, we head south to the Yala National Park (travel time approx. 4 hours). The most visited park in Sri Lanka is famous for the world’s highest population density of leopards. Your luxurious camp is right on the park’s border fence. The steel cable fence prevents elephants and water buffalo from entering the camp, everything that is smaller comes to visit regularly. There is a larger watering hole in the camp, where many wild animals quench their thirst and offer you the opportunity for unique observations and great photo motifs in the camp. In the afternoon you will go on a jeep safari in the park for 3 – 4 hours. Before sunset is a good time to see leopards hunting, crocodiles sunbathing, elephants playing in the water and many species of birds and reptiles.

Day 9. Yala NP - Sinharaja Rainforest
Today we go to another UNESCO World Heritage Site – the tropical rainforest of Sinharaja. Your drive there takes about 4 ½ hours, but takes you through some of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in Sri Lanka. The Sinharaja rainforest offers the highest biodiversity of exotic flora and fauna in all of Sri Lanka and is a paradise for scientists, biologists, eco-tourists and all nature lovers. Your unique hotel is located in the middle of cultivated tea plantations directly at the entrance to the Sinharaja National Park. Enjoy the view of the tropical rainforest and the resulting background noise.

Day 10. Sinharaja Rainforest
After breakfast you will experience the unique biodiversity of the rainforest up close. Your experienced guide will take you on an unforgettable trekking tour through the wilderness. 60% of the jungle flora and over 50% of the jungle fauna cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Out of 830 plant species endemic to Sri Lanka, 139 species only grow here. Out of 33 endemic bird species, 19 species only live in the Sinharaja jungle. The number of mammals and butterflies found only here is even over 50%. After the hike, enjoy your free time.

Day 11. Sinharaja - Tangalle
Today you say goodbye to the tropical jungle and after checking out you can look forward to the dream beaches in the south of Sri Lanka during your approx. 3 1/2 hour drive. Your tropical bungalow hotel complex on the palm-fringed beach of Tangalle awaits you with a beautiful pool, culinary delicacies, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, picturesque lagoons and mangrove forests and is the perfect final destination for your adventurous dream vacation.

After a relaxed breakfast, relax a little by the pool or on the beach before you have to say goodbye to the pearl in the Indian Ocean. Since the drive to the airport takes about 4 hours, it is advisable to book a late return flight, or an additional night in Colombo or Negombo if you are flying back early.

IMPORTANT:
Please ensure that you cover your shoulders and legs when visiting Buddhist temples and other religious attractions. Shoes and stockings must be removed before entering.
Tip: Bring or buy a thin beach towel and bring it with you on every excursion. You can wrap this around your waist or over your shoulders.
(This is why you will not visit the Dambulla Caves in the midday heat. You would burn your feet on the black rocks)
For the trekking and camping tours you should definitely not forget the following things:
Good condition, sturdy and comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect cream and clothing appropriate for the different climatic zones.
On the Knuckles Mountain Range trekking tour, please note that your hands and feet (up to the ankles) should be covered. Light trekking gloves and high hiking boots (no open trekking sandals) prevent injuries from thorny plants, sharp rocks, or insects and reptiles.

Your deposit is 20% when booking, the balance is due 30 days before departure.
