INDIA-CHENNAI – ANDAMANS

Day 1. Arrival in Chennai

Today you will arrive at Chennai International Airport. After customs, immigration formalities and baggage claim have been completed, you will be met by our representative. You will then be taken to the hotel where you can recover from your long flight.

If you arrive early in the morning and you don’t want to relax in the hotel by the pool or discover the surrounding area on your own, we would be happy to organize a first day trip (with a German-speaking guide on request) for you:

z. B: visit the 7th century city of Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram), an old Pallava port. Mahabalipuram is one of the most important archaeological sites in South India with numerous architectural monuments from the Pallava period (7th to 9th centuries). Nowadays it is home to several ancient sculptural wonders. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it features some of the finest stone-carved works of art in India. The city was previously called Mahabalipuram, but then renamed Mamallapuram or the place of the great wrestler (Narasimhavarmam I). He turned this port into a flourishing trading center. The only shore temple that still stands today is the spectacular shrine, which is unique in that it houses two deities, Vishnu and Shiva in the sanctum. The Pallavas perfected the art of building temples out of stone, without bricks, mortar or wood. The open-air bas-reliefs, the temple buildings, the man-made caves and the five monolithic “rathas” (chariots carved from one piece) reflect this art best. “Arjuna’s penance” is the largest bas-relief in the world and measures 27 by 9 meters.

Otherwise, you have the rest of the day at your beach resort with a fantastic view over the Bay of Bengal at your disposal.

Day 2. Mahabalipuram - Chennai - Port Blair / Andamans (flight included)

Today your guide will be waiting for you early in the lobby to drive you to the airport in Chennai for your onward flight to the beautiful Andaman Islands.

Flight: Go-Air (G8-1306 Chennai-Portblair ‘0840/1055) – 15 kg checked baggage per person and 07 kg hand baggage per person

You will be met at Port Blair Airport and taken to a jetty to board the ferry to Havelock Island (1400/1530).

Upon arrival in Havelock, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Havelock Island
One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Andaman Archipelago is Havelock Island, which can be reached by ferry from Port Blair. The island offers a cornucopia of recreational opportunities, including snorkeling and diving among the coral reefs, with its kaleidoscopic array of marine life; Fishing expeditions on the open sea, hikes on lush jungle trails or just soaking up the sun on one of the palm-fringed beaches. Do not miss a visit to the beautiful Radnaghar Beach, which is surrounded by a mystical section of forest. Perhaps because of its remoteness from the mainland, Havelock is much more laid-back than many more traditional Indian destinations, with fewer cultural constraints and expectations.

Day 3. Havelock Island - Tropical Secret Trails

Your excursion program for today (approx. 3 hours):

The combination of lonely beaches and tropical rainforest makes Havelock Island so unique worldwide. The “secret beach” jungle hike combines both. Our ranger, Kirti, is not only an expert in the rainforest, but is also the island’s local beatboxer. After a relaxing hour-long foray through the pristine rainforest, you’ll jump onto a perfect arch of white sand that’s yours alone for the rest of the day. Enjoy your day snorkeling, bird watching, picnicking, and chilling out in your secret location.

Day 4. Havelock Island - Traditional Villages & Jungle Tour

Your excursion program for today (4 – 6 hours):

Delve a little deeper into local life with a visit to the local Bengal community. While a delicious, authentic Bengali meal is being prepared around the campfire, listen to the stories of the settlers who have found a new home in the Andaman Islands from Bangladesh. After strolling through the lush plantations, make yourself comfortable on the hammock, sipping a handpicked coconut or a chilled, locally brewed beer. Chef Naz will guide you through this tour and will be your interpreter with your host family. Lunch, cooked over a wood fire and served on a banana leaf (included), is perhaps Havelock’s most humble and best meal.

Day 5. Havelock Island - Mangrove Kayak Tour

Your excursion program for today (approx. 3 hours):

Today, discover another side of the island with an Amazon paddle boat through Havelock’s narrow mangrove channels. Bird watching, snorkeling in the species-rich reefs or secluded dream beaches await you, depending on your comfort, tides and weather. After the tour, paddle home into the setting sun.

Day 6. Havelock Island

Leisure.

Day 7. Havelock Island - Port Blair - Chennai - Mahabalipuram (flight included)

Unfortunately, today it is time to say goodbye to the tropical paradise.

After checking out, you will be taken to the jetty to board your ferry to Port Blair. The ferry to Port Blair leaves at 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.

You will then be transferred to Port Blair Airport for your onward flight to Chennai.

Flight: Vistara Air (UK-847 Portblair-Chennai 1410/1630) – 15 kg checked baggage per person and 07 kg hand baggage per person

Arrival in Chennai and transfer to the hotel in Mahabalipuram.

For the rest of the day, enjoy the convenience of your beach resort.

Day 8. Mahabalipuram - Chennai Airport

Unfortunately today it is time to say goodbye. You will be driven on time for your onward flight to the airport in Chennai.
